Less than 3 months before the first XCO World Cup round of season 2017 (May 19-21, Nové Město na Moravě, CZE) is the right time to reveal a little more about the program.

Since last December we intensively work in collaboration with the UCI and the World Cup promoter Red Bull Media House to improve the format of the Czech part of this most prestigious mountain bike racing series, which is the only one in the Olympic program. Together, we are trying to launch new things to attract more fans and sponsors, as well as more teams and riders. To achieve this we need to extend the racing program with even more World Cup rounds and also more racing disciplines, within whose the viewers (on site as well as internationally) will have more opportunities to see top riders in their race pace.
Thanks to a joint agreement for this year we are introducing the program widespread into Friday - Sunday following this schedule:

18.15 - Short Track (Women Elite)

19.00 - Short Track (Men Elite)

Exhibition of new MTB XC discipline, which is a candidate for being included into the XCO World Cup since 2018.

10.00 – World Cup Cross-country Olympic: Men U23

13.15 – World Cup Cross-country Olympic: Women ELITE

10.00 – World Cup Cross-country Olympic: Women U23

14.15 – World Cup Cross-country Olympic: Men ELITE

On Friday we will start with a new discipline in world biking: SHORT TRACK. It is a short, dynamic race for about 30 minutes with participation of elite riders. This discipline was also introduced with a great success in the famous overseas-bike festival, the Sea Otter Classic. The race is held on a shorter and simpler circuit (approx. 2km) with fewer amount of terrain obstacles, which naturally pushes the riders to ride in a group. Point scoring bonuses during each passage of the finish area provide a hard fight on the finish line of each circuit and also a great show for spectators. A great promoter of this new discipline is also a MTB legend and former World Champion in Cross-country, the Swiss Christoph Sauser.

This new discipline is discussed to be included in the official program of the Mountain Bike World Cup from 2018, so we want to be pioneers and we include it into our program in 2017 as well. This time as a racing exhibition with participation of wide range of famous names (to be published soon).

Saturday and Sunday will be all about the Cross-country Olympic. And to make it both days plenty to look at, the program is evenly divided between the races of the young guns (U23) and roosters in the best years (Elite). In this schedule there is unfortunately no time for the traditional public race Birell MTB Marathon, which is thus eliminated from the program. But those interested in active participation along the "World Cup weekend" don't need to worry. The Birell Night Race held on Saturday evening will once again be somewhat bigger and more fun, so it is the right opportunity to sweat your pants off.

We have several other major innovations in our program, these will be introduced soon. Follow our website and our social network profiles, not to miss a single thing!
